Week of February 4th

The kids did a great job at our unit culmination today!  BIG THANK YOU to TJ Shemper, Jennifer Harvey, and Anna Laura Brett for making our Easter Island Moais.  Kate and I are truly blessed to have so many parents who are willing to help out with "grand" ideas.  :)

Here are a few reminders for the week:
-  Don't forget about Jersey Monday!
-  Yellow folders did not go out last Friday!
-  No school February 11th and 12th.

Here is a sneak peek at our week:

Spelling Words:  sphere, cube, pyramid, prism, rectangle, argue, glue, blue, due, February

Challenge Words:  technology, resource

Language Arts:  I am so impressed with how quickly the students have picked up subject-verb agreement.  You would think they had already been taught this skill.  This week, we will have centers that will strengthen our writing, reading comprehension, and listening.  We will also have a center where I will review individually with each student and they will in turn complete an assessment on subject-verb agreement.

Reading:  We do not have an assigned chapter for this unit.  However, we will be reading books using different pieces of technology.  This week, I will need for you to make an icon on your childs I pad that will link them to www.storylineonline.net.  We will be reading / listening to stories from this site.  The students will also be required to complete a Reading report for their story.

Math:  We have jumped into geometry!  The student will be identifying solid figures as well as their vertices, edges, and faces.  I look forward to watching their minds grasp the many different ways we will be looking at shapes.

Science:  We will be wrapping up our lessons on weather this week!  We will be catching up on making some of our weather instruments that were planned for last week.

I hope each of you have a wonderful week!  Please let me know if you have any questions.
