Week of April 2nd

I am sincerely having a hard time finding the right words to express how thankful and blessed I am to be a teacher at BDS.  Because I have taught at other schools, I am very familiar with how teachers are treated by their students and parents.  I can say without a doubt that the parents and students of BDS are true jewels to their teachers.  I have had several moments this week where I have had a hard time holding back tears.  Not because of the amazing gifts, but because of the thoughtfulness and selfless acts that you have shown me this week and throughout the year.  Whether it was hot chocolate on a cold morning, encouraging words through an email, or a hot tamale dispenser, I have been blessed.  THANK YOU for being such amazing parents!  THANK YOU for taking the time to share with me your appreciation for education.  THANK YOU for being apart of making BDS an environment where teachers can come and actually teach and love on your children.  THANK YOU!!!

Here are a few reminders for the week:
-  NO SCHOOL MONDAY!
-  Fitness Run is April 10th.

Here is a sneak peak at our week:

Language Arts:  This week, I will be introducing how to find the main ideas of passages using supporting details.  I have made several crafty organizers to help with this skill.  We will also be reviewing suffixes and their meaning through games.

Spelling:  April, flower, crescent, distance, phase, photograph, orphan, telephone, dolphin, elephant
-  note the -ph sound in many of the words.

Math:  We will be wrapping up our studies on measurement with length and area during centers.  The students will have a test on the skills taught during this topic on Thursday.

Science:  The students have created voki's to explain what they have learned about the planets.  I will be emailing you these vokis.  Please check out your child's creation.  I think you will be intrigued. :)  This week, we will continue our study on moon phases.
