Wow! It was so exciting to see all of you at our open house. I cannot wait to officially get started with our new year. I want to send a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the parents who donated our classroom rug. It is FABULOUS! This week, I will be assessing students through hands-on games. It is very important for me to get an understanding of where each child is so that I can teach them on their individual levels. I have listed below some things we will be doing throughout the week. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. See you all MONDAY!!!
Here are a few reminders for the week:
- P.E. day is Monday. I know it is the first day of school and many of you are going to want pictures of your kiddos in their uniform. However, they are allowed to wear BDS athletic wear. :)
- Please do not forget to download the apps I asked for in the previous blog. We will hit the ground running using these apps.
- Please make sure you have your child here between 8:00-8:10 every morning. We will begin everyday in the gym with prayer. Our math lessons will begin promptly after.
Language Arts: We will begin reading the chapter book, "Lily and Miss Liberty" by Carla Stevens on Tuesday. You DO NOT need to buy this book. I will be reading it during our class time. The kiddos will also be participating in hands-on centers where I will assess their oral reading fluency, phonics, and other pre-requisite skills.
Math: Our first week of math will begin in centers. The kids will participate in games that will review skills they should already know. I will give a placement test on Thursday to determine where everyone is. We will begin our lesson on the following Monday.
Social Science: We will begin exploring the world by learning our continents and oceans. The kiddos will be involved in activities that will require them to rap and create.
