We SURVIVED our first week!! Deleta and I have had a wonderful first week with our kiddos. We have played and participated in many activities to get to know one another. I sent home test scores from last year in your child's red folder. Please take a look at your child's performance and let me know if you have any questions or want a conference. I look forward to another great week!
Here are a few reminders:
- Wear BDS active wear on Monday for PE.
- Please bring your Latin books to school ASAP.
- Make sure your child has the apps I requested last week. They are listed on the App page on this blog.
- Please make sure your child brings their red folders to school each and every day.
Here is a sneak peek at our week:
Language Arts: We will continue reading Lily and Miss Liberty by Carla Stevens . The students have begun creating a vocabulary book. In this book, they are defining and illustrating unknown words. I will be sending home these words next week. I will NOT be giving a test on these words, however, I would like for you to talk about these words in conversation with your child. This week, the kids will also participate in centers that will focus on phonics, spelling, sight words, and reading comprehension. I will be sending on a list of sight words that your child will need to know by Thursday. The sight words are based on where your child is in the reading fluency.
Spelling Words: Sunday, from, pin, thin, spin, skin, with, they, what, why
Math: We will begin our new Math curriculum "My Math" on Monday. I will be sending home information about this curriculum on Monday. The kids will begin reviewing and learning ways to use addition to solve story problems.
Social Science: The kiddos are doing a great job learning their continents and four major oceans via the rap song. We will now begin learning where these areas are on a map. I dare you to quiz your child on identifying these areas. They will blow you away!
