Week of December 10th

Our last full week before Christmas break is finally here!  The students will be involved in many performance practices, christmas crafts, and LOTS of hands-on learning.  Because of our CRAZY schedule, we will begin our Math lessons at 8:15 each morning.  Please make sure your child is at school by 8:10 so they will not miss valuable math skills or take away from the other students learning.

Here are a few reminders for the week:
-  If you did not order paint cans, please send two paint cans on Monday.  We will be creating stilts with them.
-  On Wednesday, Kindergarten and First grade will celebrate a Wacky Seuss Wednesday that will be filled with Seuss games and treats.  The students are allowed to dress as wacky as they would like.  Remember to "think what you can think."
-  Our Christmas performance is Thursday!  The students will need to be at school at 6:00.  The performance begins at 6:30.
-  K and 1 field trip is Friday!  Please make sure to turn in forms and money ASAP!
-  Lunch menus for January are due Wednesday.

Here is a peek at what we will be doing next week:

Spelling:  holiday, elf, santa, gift, birthday, manger, present, merry, Seuss, Grinch
*  Because of the performance being on Thursday night, our spelling test will be on Thursday.  The students will not have any challenge or vocabulary words this week.

Language Arts:  Our Language Arts lessons will be a little different this week to accommodate our CRAZY Christmas schedule.  We will be using Dr. Seuss books to learn how to read with expression and will identify and apply onomatopoeias.

Math:  I am amazed with how quickly my students are learning the math skills being taught in class.  This week, we will continue our venture into two-digit addition with and without regrouping.  We will also learn strategies to add three or more numbers.
