Week of October 21st

I am looking forward to a full week of school with no interruptions.  The kids have really been working hard in each academic area.  I am very proud of how much they have grown since the beginning of the year.

Here are just a few reminders:
-  P.E. on Monday.  Wear your BDS athletic wear.
-  Report Cards went out on Friday.  Please sign and return Monday.
-  Free Dress is this Friday for those who ordered script.

Here is a sneak peek at our week:

Language Arts:  We will continue reading our chapter book, "Mystery at Big Ben."  The kids are really enjoying the characters.  This week, we will be identifying complete and incomplete sentences.  The students will also identify and write sentences according to the four types:  interrogative, statement, declarative, and exclamatory.  I am super excited about our spooky craft that will review these types of sentences.

Spelling: October, people, London, eleven, twelve, police, tower, center, down, more

Math:  We have wrapped up chapter 4, subtraction strategies, and have rolled right into chapter 5, place value.  The students will be using manipulatives as well as participating in games to learn about place value.

Science:  The kids have enjoyed learning and creating the brain.  Some of my favorite questions from this past week were:  How does your brain wash?  What happens when your brain storms? We will continue learning about the body systems this week.
