Week of November 4th

First grade had a FABULOUS time this past week at the Fall Festival!  Thank you to all the parents who took the time to dress their child for spirit week and that helped put together our annual fall festival. You Rock!

Here are a few reminders:
-  P.E. is Monday.  Make sure to wear BDS athletic outfits.
-  First grade will have an etiquette lesson and tea party at 9:00 on November 5.  The students need to wear their Sunday best.  Terri Parker is putting our tea party together so if you have any questions, please contact her.
-  K-3 unit culmination is Friday, November 8 at 1:00.  I have sent home everyones speaking parts.

Books for Next Unit:  I will be assigning chapter books based on individual abilities.  The kids will be responsible for reading a chapter a night at home.  In class, they will be given assignments focusing on comprehension, writing, predictions, and more using their books.

Spelling Words:  November, class, turkey, cute, are, our, again, place, some, very

Language Arts:  We will begin learning about adjectives this week.  I am so excited about the upcoming turkey crafts that will encourage the kids to apply adjectives in sentences and when speaking.     We will also begin working on a Thanksgiving cookbook this month.

Math:  We are still working on place value.  Please make sure to continue working on math facts with your child.
