Week of March 3rd

Wow!  What a CRAZY week of illnesses!!  I hope everyone is feeling better and ready for a week filled with sunshine. Parent conferences are on the school calendar for this week.  If you would like to schedule a conference with me, please let me know.

Here are a few reminders for the week:
- P.E. day is Monday.  Do not forget your tennis shoes and athletic wear.
- Please return your library books on THURSDAY!
- NO SCHOOL FRIDAY!!! Enjoy your Spring Break. :)

Reading / Language Arts:  To start our unit off, we will be reading several African folktales.  We will be learning new vocabulary terms and will be using synonyms, antonyms, and onomatopoeia in our writing activities!  I am really excited about all the activities planned to get the kiddos into an African groove.

**Please make sure to send your child's new chapter book to school.**

Spelling:  There will be NO spelling test this week! :)

Math:  The kids have done a great job learning how to count mixed money!  We will continue practice using money throughout the year.  This week, we will begin learning about graphs and probability.  The students will be taking surveys to create different types of graphs.

Africa:  Along with our folktales, we will be involved in many different activities.  In the next several weeks, we will be making African masks, African huts, exploring rain and how it moves through clouds, and more!  Please watch your emails for a list of supplies that will be needed in order to accomplish these activities.
